Big time waster. Kept me waiting for over 1 1/2 hours for an appointment and never got called. When I decided to leave they asked me if I wanted to reshedule I asked why, so you can keep me waiting again. If you value your time find someone else. I will.

My wife & I recently had our first appointments for check-ups with Dr. Gellman, following the retirement of Dr. Zachariah. Dr. Gellman's office is clean, well-maintained, and staffed with friendly & helpful people.
After a quick intake session with his nurse, and a short wait, Dr.Gellman arrived to our exam room.
He's very thorough, knowledgeable, and professional. He did not rush. He made positive rx recommendations with logical explanations. Highly recommend!

I hate that I even had to leave one star. From the moment this dr saw me in the hospital he didn't take anything that I was saying seriously. He cancelled my stress test and told me to schedule it outpatient with his office. I called 3 days straight just for them to tell me he NEVER put the orders in. My primary doctor had to send a referral to get it scheduled. The day before my appointment I got 3 different calls. One to say he wants to cancel the stress test and just follow up in his office because he didn't think it was necessary. When I refused they then said my insurance wouldn't cover it and the last call was come tomorrow everything is good. I got here and they tell me no your appointment was canceled yesterday despite the call that I received saying to come. This is the most unorganized, unserious office I've ever had to deal with. Never again! Update: here we are just a few short months later after he told me I was fine and nothing was wrong with me despite my constant chest pains. 2 stents placed because I have 1 major artery completely clogged and 2 passage ways. 2 stents placed and possible bypass surgery needed. Thank God I got a second opinion before I had a major heart attack.

This is the complaint I filled with Broward Health on August 27, 2024
I had an appalling experience today at Broward Health Imperial Point with a nurse who works with Dr. Joel Gellman. I encountered Nurse Nancy Arocho when she called me to inquire about my mother leaving the appointment and to resolve why my mother had left the facility before completing her scheduled tests.
My mother, who I informed the office has possible dementia and requires special care, was left unattended in the waiting room and wandered off. She was only found when my brother happened upon her. My brother was never informed that he should stay in the waiting room for the three-hour stress test. Anyone would assume that if it was necessary to stay for such a long period, this crucial information would have been communicated. He returned periodically to check on her and, when he found her, she believed her appointment was complete. He spoke to the front desk about arranging transportation, and they assisted without informing him that my mother had one more procedure left.
When Nancy and I were on the phone, she repeatedly tried to throw my brother under the bus, saying he should have known better than to leave. It wasn't until after I got off the phone with her and talked to my brother and the front desk that I learned my mother had actually wandered away. It definitely seemed like she was trying to cover for her own oversight and the risk she put a vulnerable patient in.
This neglectful behavior is unacceptable, especially given my mother's condition. In contrast, during a colonoscopy appointment for my partner at a different facility, I was explicitly told not to leave the premises and was kept informed throughout. This office failed to provide such basic care.
Nancy's behavior was particularly egregious. She repeatedly spoke over me, dismissed my concerns, and ultimately hung up on me, claiming she had other patients to attend to. Am I not a patient deserving of her attention as well?
I do not know if my mother will need to return to this facility, but if she must, I refuse to have her interact with Nancy again. Her behavior was abhorrent and unprofessional. This office needs to address these severe oversights and train their staff to handle patients with special needs appropriately.
