East Coast Bariatrics

I can't say enough positive comments about the doctors and staff at East Coast Bariatrics. I had my surgery over 5 years ago and continue to follow up with them. Between annual doctor visits I see Juliana and Emmy. They are rock stars always having time to answer my questions.

I recently needed an emergency appendectomy. Normally, we use Cleveland Clinic and have not had much experience with the doctors here. I can not begin to thank Dr. Lars Nelson, Dan, Amanda. Also Bea, and Collette, the other nurses who took care of me and the staff at Halifax & ER for their superior care. Their amazing skill, compassion, understanding, time, and attention to every detail was astounding and I'm not an easy patient. I'm also in my 70's and was out in 2 days. Don't miss the opportunity to experience world class care here in Daytona. Thank you!

Elaine is the "gatekeeper" and deems you eligible with minimal information. I have tried twice to get into their office and both times Elaine just sends me an email saying "you're not qualified, sorry." Just shut down with no explanations or further questions. If she is treating people just asking for help, I can't imagine how she is treating people at the office. I have read a few other reviews that the entire team is like this and has no compassion. Bariatrics in general is a very sensitive situation and people are very brave to even contact them. Note to the practice: have a better system to discuss each patients situation. If Elaine had taken a bit more time and ask what my goals were, she could have offered a paid consult with one of the providers to get on their program for surgery follow up, rather than just telling me no. With all the bariatric professionals in Florida, let alone the US, we don't need this type of treatment. I would have given a zero if I could. **Edited to add notes to address company comment. I have reached out to them to give my feedback directly and got no response. In addition, I tried to go through the process again and was still met with Elaine's "no" response. I can't imagine they are getting very many patients in the door with this type of person as the first point of contact. I think they would be surprised how many more potential clients they could have if someone else took the time to review individual patient situations.

Surgery by Nelson in early May. Been very happy with the team and the support care. I've been encouraged to call the office with any concerns, and they've been great about answering questions. Initially thought all the nutrition and psychiatric prep I had to go through (mostly required by my insurance) was a waste of time but I've actually felt more prepared post op than some people I've met who had the surgery elsewhere.

I have been coming to this office to see Dr. Lars Nelson and I absolutely live everyone hete. They are all so nice between reception to nurses to Drs. They make you feel welcome each visit, never rush you, take time to answer any questions and ease your mind. Best Bariactrics office!!
