Dr. Nathan Valin

I have been a patient of Dr Valin for approximately four years. I have seen him a few times being informed by his staff upin my visit he is in the Advent hospital. As a Advent Health Advocate I did not mind at first then when asking to specially see him once again being informed he is in the hospital. Finally when I required a pacemaker battery change he did the procedure unfortunately I ended in the hospital with 17 pounds of water given dieretics and released. Not to long after my feet filled with water and I went up to his office and was informed he could not see me for five days because have other patients. I was willing to wait in his office all day however he refused to see me.I had no choice but to go elsewhere for care. I am stressed, disappointed and discharged myself that day in my best interest.

After not having any cardiac history....I was admitted with a cardiac issue with Dr Valin assigned to my case. I truly lucked out to have him added to my already awesome medical team! His bedside manner is great, very thorough with answering questions and explaining procedures and why they are necessary. I didnt question his reasoning for his approach for an emergency procedure then....I doubt I will question his care in the future! Thank you, Dr Valin, for such great care and assurance at such a scary time!

I had an appointment with Dr. Barton Sickinger who installed a Pacemaker in me in April 2020. He didn't explain what would happen before he installed the Pacemaker or what to do during my recovery. Thankfully I had an excellent home nurse who did check the incision, and did all the things Dr. Sickinger did not do - explain what to do, etc. I had a follow up appointment with him a while later, saw him in the corridor and said hello. He pointed to a room I should wait for him in. He never showed up nor did he answer any of the questions I had for him. This Friday I had another appointment with him since he was not only appointed as my cardiologist, but was my surgeon. As far as the surgery went, although I told every nurse that I was allergic to the adhesive on the bandages used -- and I spotted a couple of these nurses waiting for the surgery to begin, I was plastered all over my chest and wherever the bandages touched, I then had severe outbreak that turned into ugly scabs. Well, Sickinger (who I now name 'Dr. Sick" never showed for the latest appointment. Thankfully the tech - Tyone Bolden - was able to remove the ultra-thick tjhread that 'sick' used to close the incision for the Pacemaker. When 'sick' didn't show up for yet another appointment, the tech noticed that the incision 'looked reddish' and went out to call 'sick' but sick didn't respond - so Tyone called in another doctor- Dr. Valin. Dr. Valin treated me like a human being, with respect, courtesy and care. He agreed the incision was reddish and said he'd tell sick to see me in a week. I told Dr. Valin that I didn't want sick ever again since he was disrespectful in not appearing at my appointments with him and Dr. Valin agreed to see me for a follow up. I now am happy to use a professional, caring doctor like Dr. Valin.
