I had been seen regularly by a cardiologist who retired, and tried Dr. Atfeh. With absolutely NO symptoms to support it, he said I have an irregular heartbeat. So, because I have superb insurance he wants to have me wear a monitor ($5000 device), have a sleep study because I snore - something I have been doing for 45 years with no problems - plus have an ECHO, Stress test, don't need it, and a slew of other tests and they set me up with a half dozen appointments. He kept searching for symptoms, even lifting up my pant legs because I certainly must have Edema but again found nothing. He said stop taking the low dose aspirin for $2.99 a bottle and start an expensive blood thinner which is likely going to give him a kick back as I have learned from drug reps is a common tactic. When I arrived at 1:45 pm there were only two patients in the waiting room. When I left after an hour plus of this dr pushing all manner of tests on me to be done in the near future, there were 10 people waiting who probably didn't have such superior insurance. No wonder medical costs are so high. Drs like this drive up the costs with unnecessary tests and drugs. My BP was 114/80 so my cheap BP meds are working. All I wanted was a refill. I lost 62 pounds in two years to reduce my risk of problems. Not a single positive word about being 6 ft tall and 181 pounds fully clothed. Weeks later I feel good heart wise. I'm not going back and not going to put myself through stressful tests which would cost my insurance too much money. And I'll stay on my inexpensive aspirin, thank you very much.

We have nothing but praise for Dr. Atfeh but the nurse that he has had for our last two yearly visits should NOT deal with people as she has no skills. We were there yesterday. She took my husband's blood pressure and as she walked away she told us it was 160/78. We check it every day at home and the top number is always between 120-125 so we asked her if she would mind taking it again and we told her why. She WENT off on us and refused to retake it. She was also very unkind when she did an EKG - rough when she shaved his chest and pulling the leads back off. We waited for Dr. Atfeh for over an hour. We heard several other patients saying the same thing about their blood pressure. Finally, she ended up coming back in and doing it again and it was quite a bit lower but she had my husband upset due to her blunt and unfriendly behavior. Friends of ours are also Dr. Atfeh's patients and they say she acts that way to them too. It's a shame that such a good doctor has such a nurse - all his previous nurses were friendly and caring.

I have serious ethics concerns with this doctor based on my disturbing experience with him in his office .

While I'm not the patient, my boyfriend is. Dr. Atfeh did save his life 2 years ago when he had a widow maker in Oakhill Hospital. However, since then, this Doctor cannot keep his appointments, make it anywhere on time ,and doesn't even know who you are when he does see you. We were supposed to have an appointment Thursday 2/15/24, routine 2 years checkup, he was having chest pains and this was relayed to staff! He called daily to get in, left messages, no response. Fast-forward to Friday 2/23/24 and he came to the emergency room, since his doc and staff never acknowledged his concerns. Here we sit 2 days later for him to show up to perform a test. That was supposed to be done early, now won't be done until after 2pm ... Needless to say we will not be paying this bill and will send it to his office Everytime one comes in for the hospital stay. Had he kept the appointment he would more than likely not had to come.! It's a shame too, because he knows how to save lives..... We will be switching cardiologists.. one who actually takes the time to see a patient

Dr. Atfeh listened to my concerns. He evaluated my situation, and offered treatment options, discussing the differences and benefits of each. We decided on my plan of care and I am greatful that I have a truly caring doctor. I give him five stars as he deserves everyone.
