I met Dr Bufkin and his nurse practitioner staff in preparation for my TAVR surgery. I was completely satisfied with their level of professionalism and their focus on the complex medical procedure. Dr Bufkin and his team were meticulous, but also very personable and likable.

In April of 2015 Dr Bufkin performed an open heart bypass on me. I was on the table for 8hrs, and was told everything was done and I'll be better. My follow up appointment i informed Dr. Bufkin that i was still feeling the same symptoms of chronic chest pain that i was feeling before. He said that was normal.....After said surgery when it was time i started my cardiac rehabilitation at the Pepin Institute, I told the instructor i felt funny, he said it was normal to feel everything i was feeling after the type of surgery i had. That same day, later that evening i had problems laying down, sitting as well as standing. I went to the E.R., they told me that i had pericarditis. I was released, went home. The very next day the situation was worst, so i went to the hospital that my surgery was performed which was Brandon Hospital. I called Dr Bufkins office to let them know i was at the hospital, and i would like to see him while I'm In the hospital...he never came, in fact Joanne kept hanging up on me after I've called several times. I even saw Joann while i was walking with my nurse in Brandon to keep my circulation level up, never did she nor Dr Bufkin or anyone from his team came to see me. I was hospitalized for pericarditis (2) times back to back. The 2nd time, the last time i was hospitalized in Brandon hospital for the pericarditis, Dr Alvarez helped and saved me with a shot that made the pericarditis go away thank goodness!! When Dr Bufkin did come to see me it was in September of 2016, and informed me that there was nothing else he could do for me. I was still having the same symptoms, chronic chest pain i was having before my 2015 open heart surgery. In February of 2017 i had to under go another open heart bypass at another hospital. The new Dr after reviewing the cardiac cath he ordered himself, and an Echocardiogram informed my family and I, as well as on paper that nothing was done when i was operated on for the first time by Dr Bufkin that my condition had not changed nor been corrected by Dr Bufkin, also it didn't take the Dr more than 3hrs to perform the surgery. Please be mindful that after my first so called "Bypass" of April 2015, from May of 2015 - February 2017 I've been hospitalized many times for chronic chest pains. If anyone feels as if they are not fixed, or there's something wrong always listen to your body and continue to be your own advocate!!

Dr Bufkin is a "down to earth" genius! His personality and attitude make every conversation a pleasure. Straight forward and honest, but first and foremost a very skilled surgeon. I hope to never need him again, but if I do, I will not hisitate!

Dr Bufkin has given me a second chance of life .On September 9 2022 I got a quadruple bypass and an aorta valve replacement. The surgery went very smoothly, I am now full of energy Thank god for Dr Bufkin and his team of doctors.i highly recommend him.
