Boisey O Barnes MD

I am forever grateful to Dr Boisey O Barnes, Cardiologist and Primary Care MD. In late 2011, during my regular annual checkup Dr Barnes noticed detected an irregular heart beat. After additional tests, he informed me I had some form of Amyloid. I couldn't believe it, shocking, no real knowledge of disease. Honestly, I felt helpless. He took time explained the diease. If not for his diagnoses i may have dropped dead with knowing the cause. His knowledge of Amyloid is excellent. I began to understand the damage and medical problems coming my way. And it did. Fast forward to July 30 2014, after numerous procedures, operations, aggressive workups, ICD and Temporary Artificial Heart Machine, hospital visits at MWHC District Of Columbia & 90 day at VCUH Pauley Center in Richmond VA, I received A new heart.and liver. And donated my biological liver (domino procedure) as well. Saving life and receiving life is an awesome feeling. It truly is. Lastly, let me say thank you Donor Family. Thank you Nurses, Professional Healthcare Workers, Staff, Workers, etc. And it all started with PC Dr Boisey O. Barnes Cardiologist. Thank you and your nurses and staff so, so, very much Many Blessings Everyone.

I came to Dr. Barnes a month ago because of some blood pressure issues that were scaring me. Then when I thought about what I thought were hot flashes (just turned 50)...I realized they were cold sweats! I got scared and did some research and reached out to to a few organizations and his name kept coming up. I made an appointment with him because of how long he has been practicing. I didn't need anyone guessing and doing T&E on me. My TC was almost 500 and my BP was 190/110. He said I should have been dead. I cried several times in his office. After my visit and taking my medicine and changing my diet instantly, in a week my TC dropped 60 points and my BP was 136/80. Seriously he saved my life. I would not have seen 2019 without his directional care. He is beyond knowledgeable and is laid back but he was extremely honest with me and what I needed to do to live and not let my genetic disorder, familial hypercholesterolemia, own me and take my life. I gave him my family history so I was thorough on my end. I am a recovering workaholic so I reasoned away so many feelings I physically had and thought it was my crazy work schedule, family stress, not eating on schedule, lack of sleep, but that was not it. Don't get me wrong, I know that is not super healthy, but that is not what made me feel internally the way I was feeling with being super exhausted, short of breath, headaches that made me dizzy sometimes and my legs hurting and having problems sleeping. He is a total blessing to my life. I'm thankful to call him my cardiologist Hands down, I don't know if another doctor would have helped me this quickly without sending me all over town to get tests and trying this and trying that. Sometimes you have to take experience over bright and shiny. I enjoy the old school feel of his office and I felt comfortable not clinical. Is it crazy to say, I can't wait to go back to see my progress?

I'm a patient of Dr. Barnes. I left and went to another Cardiologist thinking they had my best interest(wrong) so I went back to Dr. Barnes because I knew all the time he cared about my health. I thought the other Dr. would be better. I'll stick with who I know and not jump around.

Convenient office. I never actually saw Dr Barnes (didn't end up needing to) but his assistant was very nice and helpful.

Excellent doctor and an even better man. He really cares about getting you healthy!
