I just want to say thank you to everyone at the Cardiac care unit that took care of me. They drained over 40 pounds of fluid from my body and pretty much saved my life. I am very grateful. The doctors, technicians, volunteers, food service workers, and especially the nurses were fantastic from start to finish. The hospital rooms were always cleaned and the food from the cafeteria were great. (no kidding) I felt like I was staying at a Marriott and not a hospital. I know you can only nominate one nurse for a Daisy Award, but I want to if I can, nominate ALL the nurses on the fourth floor of the heart failure unit. They all did a great job because I know that I was a pain in the butt patient.

My family has had an extremely disappointing and stressful experience with ChristianaCare Cardiology. My mom has been in AFib for over a month, and the office never bothered to call her after her EKG showed something was wrong. She had to find out on her own that she was in a dangerous rhythm -- which is unacceptable for a cardiology practice. Communication has been terrible, and no one seems to take responsibility or show urgency. When someone is dealing with a heart condition, you expect basic follow-up, compassion, and professionalism. Instead, we were left completely in the dark while my mom's condition got worse. This practice has caused unnecessary anxiety and honestly feels unsafe. We will be seeking care elsewhere, and I hope ChristianaCare takes these issues seriously because no family should have to go through this.

Whoever was doing the phones today, their customer service for scheduling leaves a lot to be desired. When dealing with people who are dealing with life-threatening things such as blood clots you would think you'd be more compassionate and eager to help them get it figured out sooner than later. I guess I'll go to the ER to get done what I already know needs to be done where you're scheduling. Dept dropped the ball. I have a prescription and everything from my family Dr. Wishing you all a good day.

Expect a long wait at the emergency dept. typically after arriving at the Emergency Dept door it takes at least three hours to get back into observation or into a bed, from there it takes more hours to find a suitable bed in the main hospital but at least your care has begun. If you can try and get your doctor to pre-admit you to the hospital so that you can wait for a phone call from the hospital to sort out insurance information and then another phone call that will tell you a bed is open and where to report to, then you can literally walk from the front door to your hospital bed without any interruptions. The staff is lovely and there to help you, the nurses are responsive and well informed and trained. The personal care techs are gentle and pleasant. You will meet a bunch of different doctors and specialists but they stay well abreast of your chart so you shouldn't be repeating your symptoms and maladies constantly; but you should be prepared to answer many repetitive questions, that is just modern medicine for you. All and all a good hospital but it would be nicer if the Emergency Department was a little faster.
