Best doctor ever encountered - among the finest gentlemen I ever met Brilliant, Compassionate, Conservative, Engaging, Kind, and Patient At the pinnacle in his field - but never beyond the patient Open patient discussions - two way conversations. Sensitive and Respectful of the patient symptoms and condition. Exceeds my lofty expectations thereby earning highest recommendation possible. Thankfully there are still doctors like Dr. Mark Schoenfeld around!
Dr Schonfeld is fantastic! He's very knowledgeable and is also extremely kind and caring. I trust him implicitly. He's one of a kind in his field and I feel fortunate to be one of his patients.
My husband and I thought he was a brilliant doctor who actually listened to you. Very conservative, very careful. We thought it was so nice to be with a doctor who graduated at the top of his class! My husband put all his trust in this doctor. Editing my review... This was true at the beginning of our relationship with this doctor. This doctor treated my husband with amiodarone. We did NOT understand the full implications of that medication, and an initial lung x ray was NOT ordered. It worked perfectly. Six months after my husband came off amiodarone, he developed four unique conditions. 1. Limited lung capacity (went to a pulmonologist), 2. pancreatitis, (again, went to a (Gastroenterologist, MRI showed annoyed pancreas but numbers not bad...hospitalized for it, set A-fib off) 3. hands swell to boxing gloves size (went to Rheumatologist, she ordered prednisone. Again the numbers were not bad, just the unbelievable swelling) We never thought about the amiodarone as the cause and neither did Dr. Schoenfeld. He said it was highly unlikely that the amiodarone was the cause. After the prednisone, all things dropped down, never to reappear. 4. Skin sheds from entire body like dandruff. Again, highly unlikely due to the amiodarone, according to the doctor. Eight years later, Afib returned. Dr put my husband on amiodarone. I said, that caused so much to go wrong last time. Doctor's answer...highly unlikely. Immediately my husband's lips began to swell. Doctor said allergy...take benadryl. Lips lose swelling. No x-ray of lungs. My husband has to sit in order to walk any distance. Called doctor. He recommended we call our primary doctor, who really did not understand that my husband was on amiodarone, and we did not know the med was causing the problem. We carried on, until his regular appointment, thinking the amiodarone and the A-fib was just taking its toll on him. At his appointment, his primary doctor said his oxygen is low. When he went to the hospital, they said he had pneumonia, and put him on antibiotics for two days before they accepted that he had pulmonary toxicity from the amiodarone. Dr Shoenfeld said it was highly unlikely that the amiodarone caused it. My husband died horribly and sadly suffering, four weeks later. It was listed on his death certificate, that highly unlikely had killed him...pulmonary toxicity caused by amiodarone. He was never given an x-ray for a base reading of his lungs, before the amiodarone was administered, and we were never warned that some people died from this medication. My husband led a full and active life, in business for himself as an engineer and distributor of industrial motors and drives, a downhill skier, and a sailor of a 39 ft sail boat. He is sorely missed by his eight children and myself to this day. A doctor's ego and ignorance killed my precious, life-long (53 years) partner.
Dr Mark Shoendeld has been my Dr. since June 2005. He installed a pacemaker defibrillator from medtronics, and other than having the bad recall for failing leads I've never had any doubts with his decisions on care . I highly recommend him and trust him completely. James
