Patient
I've been meaning to write this review for some time now, but never got around to it, as I was still trying to understand what was going on with my own body. If I could give Gandelman negative stars I would. I went to him a few years ago after I was presenting signs of tachycardia, shortness of breath, presynscope, along with a slew of other symptoms. I had gone to Greenwich Hospital cardiology and took several tests, short of a holter monitor, and everything had come back fine. I went to Gandelman, told him the situation, and said I was looking for a second opinion. Immediately offended, he says, ""I don't know about a second opinion, but I can give you mine." He then proceeds to tell me, "You have what I like to call 'thin white woman syndrome'." He starts laughing, and goes on to tell me, "My college buddies and I used to take bets at all of the weddings on which bridesmaid would pass out first from not eating or drinking for days before the wedding trying to fit into their dress." Jaw dropped, I was shocked at this point and didn't know how to respond so I didn't say anything. I never expected a doctor to make light of someone have heart rates as high as 180 for absolutely no reason He gave me a holter monitor that I was to wear for five weeks. The day I returned it, he happens to call me to follow up with him - I think to schedule another appointment?? I told him I just returned the monitor, and clearly had no idea who I was or that he had given me the monitor bc he was totally surprised and actually sounded really out of it. I never heard back from them, never got my results from the monitor. And I didn't bother calling because I was so disgusted at that point and wanted nothing to do with him. Btw Dr Gandelman, it turns out I have POTS and MCAS, and suffered for a long time before finding any real help because of doctors like you, essentially telling me that I was crazy. If you feel like being belittled and made fun of for your health issues, definitely choose this doctor.
