Melissa, an ER nurse, was amazing as she cared for my loved one. The nursing staff on the stroke floor was also wonderful. What was NOT helpful, was the fact there is only one Speech and Language Pathologist employed for the 450+ bed hospital on the weekends. That ONE individual is responsible for evaluating whether a patient can swallow. My loved one was evaluated once while under the influence of a sedative and has not been reevaluated in over 32 hours... meaning her last meal was the evening before she went to the ER (making it no food for 56 hours). It's time to put patients over profits.

We had a wonderful experience in the ER at Danbury Hospital! Our doctor, Dr Doug Smith, was thorough and meticulous in his care and did a great job of keeping us up to date on everything that was going on. He discussed options with us in clear terms and gave us the space to make the best decisions for my father. He was kind and compassionate and clearly committed to doing the very best for his patients. Our nurse, Julia, went above and beyond. Her gentle confidence put us all at ease. She is truly extraordinary. She was very professional and very compassionate. I felt comfortable leaving my parents for a few hours because of the care given to my father. I highly recommend the Danbury ER.

If I could give this hospital negative 1000 stars I would. Once they were taken over by big business, corporate America they went all the way to hell. My elderly parent with Covid is barely getting care. They are understaffed severely and admitted it. Is this because they are waiting to only hire diverse employees? Over the course of three days a doctor with an accent that she couldn't even understand came in for 3 min. She has been on fluid for severe dehydration and low kidney values but they left her with NO IV for a night and until noon when I raised hell. If you want to die come to Danbury hospital.
