Patient
***BEWARE*** This review is by no means a representation of care, but rather St. Vincent's shockingly misleading billing practices. After going in for a consult then receiving an echo cardiogram, the bill for the ultrasound (which was performed in a corporate plaza business office) was sent to my insurance as an "outpatient hospital procedure" and I was charged an exorbitant amount more than my spouse who had hers done through Northeast Medical Group, and was billed as an office visit as it should be. After speaking to two representatives at St Vincent's billing (the first of which was immediately defensive and had an extremely demeaning tone to her voice, likely from many others calling about this insane practice, and the second one who literally yawned loudly, purposefully while blowing off my request to appeal) they simply defended the misleading practice and justified the fact that this ultrasound performed in an office was an outpatient hospital procedure. This is clearly a quick money grab as hospital billing is drastically higher than office billing. Good luck appealing and more likely paying hundreds of dollars extra out of pocket if you get deceived into getting tests done at their "hospital" which somehow represents any of the offices they have other than the actual one hospital location. If this was standard practice, fine, but the fact that Northeast Medical Group affiliates through Yale, an actual respected hospital, are able to not do this and charge appropriately speaks volumes to the way this company conducts itself.
