Patient

★★

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Lolley. I have a condition with which I couldn't breathe because of inflammation and fluid. I came prepared with questions, and she avoided answering all but maybe one. I realized after we left that I knew no more than I did going in. Then, I thought, well, perhaps she's waiting until I have another echocardiogram the next day. But, no, when I tried to find out those results and get the answers to the questions I originally asked, I still didn't get answers. In fact, the nurse was simply copying and pasting partial answers that the doctor wrote to her, onto my portal message. The answers made zero sense to a lay person. It seemed the nurse either couldn't interpret the doctor's notes or was too lazy to translate them into non-specialist language. I called the manager of the department, and she agreed that the answers weren't clear. She sent me to a different doctor in the clinic who was much better at communicating in person. Unfortunately, the same staff supports him, and I continued to get gibberish answers (this condition needs to be monitored and meds reviewed often), so I changed clinics altogether. I would recommend that Dr. Lolley and the nursing staff receive some kind of training in communicating with patients in a way that is clear, helpful, and compassionate. Most patients don't have medical training. And conditions like what I have are scary. If you don't know the answers say so, and refer the patient elsewhere, please. We are already stressed with our health; please don't add to it by gaslighting us. I gave more than one star because the manager of the clinic did try to help.
