Patient
Came here for further evaluation of a medical concern and was told I had to stay a night. The nurses were friendly and very communicative, and cared a lot about my health. After my first night, my only symptom went away and I felt completely healthy from then on. All tests and evaluations I had were satisfactory, and I was sure I could leave that day. It took several hours before anyone could tell me when I was getting discharged, and when someone did, he told me that the person responsible for discharging me wanted me to stay one more night. I found some of the nurses to be pretty legalistic too. When I asked my nurse if I could disconnect my telemetry monitor to take a shower, he said that I would need my aide to stand outside my bathroom in case I fell and needed help. I'm in my early 20s. I have not had any symptoms that could cause me to fall and be unable to stand up. I do understand that they want me to be well, and I greatly appreciate that from the nurses I had, but there's a point where you need to recognize your patient's capabilities and not go by a rulebook. A pro: The food was actually okay. Hospital food has a reputation for being bad, but the food served to me was very good for hospital standards. Overall, the nurses were very hospitable and I was well provided for, but I wish some of them actually treated me according to my age and physical capabilities.
