I have pneumonia and their pulmonologist, Dr. Kotecha, has his nurse call and cancel and cannot reschedule for weeks. It feels heartless and unsafe to rely on people who treat you like Spirit Airlines. If you need to cancel, reschedule quickly or at least take into the health of lose you let down.
For a basic blood draw waiting time is 66 mins. They don't make appointments. Manhattan beach and Redondo beach locations don't draw blood. They tell you to walk in. Time is valuable. Noone has time to wait 66 mins for a basic blood draw when they have full time job and children!
I've been with UCLA for 20 years and sadly will be moving to another medical facility. UCLA has a serious billing issue. After my insurance (I pay for medical insurance thru my employer) approved and agreed to cover a procedure UCLA coded the procedure incorrectly to my insurance Co. on three different bills which resulted in me needing to pay. My insurance and I have been trying to resolve this issue with UCLA for months. One bill was sent for recoding review and paid (correctly) by insurance. The other two were still incorrect and I've called (with my insurance Co. on the line) 4 times to have it resolved. The second bill was finally recoded correctly and yet the third bill is still hanging out there and now they show it was sent to collections? My daughter just had her yearly physical there and same thing happened to her. UCLA billed it incorrectly and she was on hold for over an hour with UCLA (with her insurance Co. on the line) to talk with someone to have it coded correctly. Another time I had a doctor visit with my internist and due to the lead time to get an appointment I was 2 months past three years since the last time seeing the doctor and UCLA billed the visit as a new patient. The bill was $1200 and the doctor spent less then 10 minutes with me.
Unfortunately this clinic did not check their vaccine inventory before allowing for my vaccine appointment. I ended up driving a long distance to the clinic and waited for 15 minutes in the waiting room only to be brought into the clinic room where the nurse seemed flustered when she realized that they did not have the needed vaccine in stock. I appreciate that they immediately apologized. They then sent me to another UCLA clinic site and the nurses at this other site stated that they also did not carry the ordered vaccine and wanted me to call my PCP to change the order rather than calling themselves. I'm disappointed by the service I've received especially at the UCLA Torrance clinic.
