Came in on a late Friday night with little to no wait time. I was seen, diagnosed, and treated quickly by the attending, Sofia, and night nurse, Gabby. Both took the time to explain everything clearly and were very compassionate, making sure I was always informed. I've had my share of awful ER visits, but these incredible women made a super stressful situation more manageable.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Believe the bad reviews and expect even worse. If you need the ER in Santa Monica, go to UCLA. It's worth the extra time you may spend there to ACTUALLY get treated. I went into St John's ER on a Sunday night at 8:30pm due to severe muscle tension that refused to let go after every OTC treatment +muscle relaxers prescribed by Urgent Care. They referred me to the ER. I was NEVER examined by the doctor- she checked my heart and lungs, but never once touched the muscles I told her were tense to gauge what was going on. After waiting 5 hours and for labs to come back- IN THE LOBBY, mind you, while entire hallways had empty beds, I was told "there is nothing we can do" and she sent me home with a prescription for an anti-anxiety medication. So, she decided without ever touching my body that my pain was all in my head, and prescribed me something to calm my mind down instead of treating my actual pain. I am so incredibly offended by this utter disregard for my experience. The ONLY goal was to get me out of their ER, not to actually treat my severe and debilitating pain.

I was worried to go to the ER at 9pm since the night is the busiest time for ERs usually but the waiting room here seemed mostly empty. I got seen pretty quick and the doctors and nurses here were so kind to me. I remember the names Ryan, Marcie and Vanessa, they were really nice! I'm not sure about all the bad reviews here because I had a pleasant experience. The wait was a bit long, I got here at 9pm and was discharged at 1am but I think there may just be a shortage of staff, the test results only took an hour to get back. I think the parking situation is pretty tricky and expensive but I just got dropped off the avoid that.

Came in at night on a Thursday for dislocation and 2 fractures. Little bit of a wait, but not bad. They were very kind and thorough. Helped my a terrible situation be a bit less terrible. Thank you all.
