I had a surgery at this hospital, and it was a wonderfully smooth experience. Everything works like a well-oiled machine -- clear in communication, transparent in finances, and exceptional in care. Special gratitude to my surgeon Dr. Vasilev and PA L. Stern. Huge thanks to my pre-op nurse Pam, my anesthetist Dr. Chang, and post-op nurse Paolo (many many thanks ). The care was beyond expectations -- so professional and so heartfelt. I can truly say that the whole experience made a big difference in how I felt during my recovery after surgery. I'm deeply thankful and sending lots of good wishes to everyone working here!

I received the best care I have ever had. The staff were friendly and had a positive attitude. I was well informed of everything that was done to me. The procedure was explained and I felt secure that my surgeon was extremely capable. Thank you to all the nurses and staff that made me feel comfortable.

This is a glowing review of my care at the ER here but first let me give you some context that shows how grateful I am to be in California after traveling abroad with an illness. I had just returned last night from travel in Spain and Morocco where I had been sick for several days. I visited two different hospitals, one in Fez, Morocco, and one in Madrid, Spain for my illness and did not get full satisfaction. While the charge for the care and fed was incredibly low and that people were very nice it still did not fully cope with my problem. And then Madrid, visiting an ER there was a nightmare. They charged me a deposit of EU550 upfront before they would even agree to see me and then the car was terrible with no resolution and to add insult to injury they charged me EU1300 for what was very little treatment. It was a joke. I thought Spain had excellent healthcare reasonable prices that is certainly not what I experienced.... Once I arrived back here in Santa Monica, I visited the local ER and Marcy the certified nurse practitioner was fantastic and gave me her full attention despite being busy and ran the usual test and helped determine my problem which was a broken rib after coughing relentlessly for several days. They treated me in the ER and then gave me proper prescription prescriptions for medication and I feel that I will be on the mend very soon. All this my way is saying that I'm not really grateful to mercy and this hospital but also to the state of healthcare here in California where we are very fortunate, particularly if you have Medi-Cal. Thank you for being there!

I was at a cardiologist's office across the way from Saint John's and had an irregular EKG. My doctor escorted me to Saint John's ER to be evaluated. I had the best experience you can possibly have in the ER - everyone was SO kind, efficient, on top of things, and organized. One of the ER doctors, Dr. Seth was my mom's doctor 10+ years ago and was so great with her; I had the same experience with him. They gave me warm blankets, and they played Lullaby on the surround sound! Amazing.
