★★★

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center has been part of our family's medical journey for years, offering both emergency and general care when it mattered most. One of the Whopper families received urgent treatment here, and while the staff moved quickly and professionally, the wait times and communication gaps were noticeable during peak hours. The general care wings are clean and well-equipped, but the scale of the facility can feel overwhelming without a strong advocate present. From a broader lens, SCVMC could easily anchor a capstone project in public health or healthcare administration. Topics like emergency throughput, patient navigation, or county-level resource allocation would be relevant and timely. The indoor garden area stands out--a rare pocket of calm that reminds you healing isn't just clinical. For families and students alike, this place reflects both the strengths and limits of public infrastructure in a high-demand region.

In 2021, I had surgery at this hospital after breaking my ankle. I was extremely nervous going in, especially after reading some of the reviews, but I remained hopeful. Unfortunately, my experience was very mixed. During surgery, I was told I had complications specifically, an asthma attack. However, this information was never communicated to me directly. My caretaker had to call the hospital after waiting over six hours (the estimated surgery time) to find out what was happening. My surgery ended up taking nearly eight hours. On a positive note, the orthopedic surgeons there were three of them did an excellent job on my ankle itself. Y'all get a 4.5/5. After surgery, I was given a PCA pump attached to my operated leg. When I woke up, a nurse roughly started dressing me before I was fully awake or aware of what was happening. Another nurse had to step in and warn her to be careful with the PCA pump. Unfortunately, the first nurse was so rough that she disconnected it (dummy). When I got home, I realized the medication was leaking out instead of delivering pain relief. My caretaker took me back to the hospital, and the experience in the ER was awful. I was in severe pain and very vocal about it, but some of the nurses made fun of me and questioned whether I was "really in that much pain." I had just undergone an eight-hour surgery and had no effective pain control. Eventually, one kind nurse came to check on me, apologized for her colleagues' behavior, and gave me something stronger that finally helped. While I was in the ER, I overheard nurses discussing another patient's private medical information they loudly stated that the woman next to me had tested positive for COVID. Later, I woke up to a male nurse entering my room with a COVID swab. When I asked if I was being tested, he hesitated and said he was in the "wrong room." There was no prep table or any indication that a test had been ordered for me, and the situation made me feel very uncomfortable and uneasy. Overall, while I'm grateful to the orthopedic surgeons and the 1 kind nurse I encountered, my overall experience was extremely disappointing. Communication, professionalism, and patient care were severely lacking in many areas. I would strongly caution others to consider other hospitals if possible.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hospital was deeply disappointing. The building looks modern and impressive from the outside, and there are plenty of staff members present. However, most of them seemed to be standing around chatting rather than assisting patients. Despite the fact that the hospital was not busy, emergency patients were left waiting endlessly with no sense of urgency or compassion from the staff. We were repeatedly told to "wait a little longer," but the wait continued with no clear updates or attention. It felt like the hospital cared more about appearances than actual patient care. A hospital should prioritize people's health and time, especially in the emergency department. Unfortunately, this facility failed to deliver even the most basic level of responsiveness and professionalism. I genuinely hope the management addresses this issue and improves staff accountability, patient communication, and overall service. No one seeking emergency care should have to wait this long with staff standing around doing nothing.

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents who had a very disappointing experience with the valet service at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. They encountered a rude valet driver who refused to park their car because it was supposedly dirty. Mind you my dad has suffered spinal stenos for over 20 years he can barely walk now a days. Which made this whole ordeal even worse due to now he had to find somewhere else to park. My parents were there to see my grandma in ICU who suffered a life threatening fall. The valet's behavior was unacceptable and insensitive to their situation. I do not recommend anyone using this valet service. I am beyond outraged!! My dad took a video of the guy after this situation had happened if need I can share video with mangers he was rude even in the video yelling at my parents to clean there car mind you my parents are elderly! This is not RIGHT!! Unacceptable!!! This is a Hispanic guy on the younger side with goatee. I'll try to include picture as well.

Well the staff was great except the free parking valet was horrible nightmare. Our 2014 sedan got a little untidy. I have spinal stenosis and two recent surgeries. Thus, I had a collection of empty water bottles around 10 on the passenger floor board and there was my wife and I Jackets in back seat and a few other items a grocery bag. No old food or clothes nothing that would smell or offend. How ever our car didn't pass Car Vatet Ruben.S scrutiny. So after leaving my aging and dying 84 year old mother at hospital Ruben had some parting words for my wife and I Jackets. He stated he will not be parking our car anymore. I said why he said the car needs cleaning. He said this aloud and I have it on video. No shame with impunity! So just makes me wonder if this is the case what else is he doing and other VMC staff!? The horrible event was video documented and I will post on YouTube. Hopefully Ruben S if that's he's name not going to park my car anymore because he's no longer employed there. Incase he gave me a false name here's a discription . Oh they should have name tags Ruben around 5"6 140 light skinned Hespanic Male shoulder length brown or black hair mustache and gotee
