Dr. Vagelos saved my Dad's life. His previous doctor in Santa Cruz had told him that this is just what heart failure looks like. This was after my Dad had been admitted to the hospital with acute heart failure affecting his other organs. He came home and just got worse. Took him to Standford ER when he woke up confused and his ankles were so swollen that we couldn't find shoes to fit. Dr. Vagelos and his team saw him and somehow managed to get him stabilized. Over the next couple of days, he changed his medications for his heart and my Dad started to feel and look so much better! All it took was some medication changes. We will be eternally grateful to Dr. Vagelos for saving my Dad's life. If we hadn't gone to Stanford my Dad would no longer be with us.
