Patient
I am writing this review with immense gratitude and respect for Dr. Sevak Darbinyan. He saved my grandmother's life when others were prepared to send her home or put her through a surgery she would not have survived. My grandmother was taken to the ER at Glendale Memorial Hospital after she started complaining of chest pains, and not feeling well and we feared she may have suffered a stroke or heart attack. She was admitted for several days. Eventually a cardiologist came in and told us her heart was "fine" and that she was being discharged. We strongly disagreed. We knew in our hearts that sending her home could result in a fatal heart attack. After we pushed back, the doctor said he'll do an angiogram. After the angiogram, the same doctor all of sudden said that my grandmother's condition was very serious and that open heart surgery was the only option to save her life. This was alarming to us yet again, and were devastated. At this point we did not trust the judgment of this cardiologist and decided to seek a second opinion before putting her through such a high risk procedure. That second opinion was Dr. Sevak Darbinyan, and it was the best decision we ever made. Dr. Darbinyan acted with urgency, compassion, and extraordinary professionalism. He immediately arranged for the angiogram images to be reviewed and my uncle sent an Uber to retrieve the CD from radiology so there would be no delay. After reviewing her case, he told us to transfer her immediately to his hospital. His team coordinated everything seamlessly and efficiently. Once she arrived at Providence Mission Viejo Hospital, Dr. Darbinyan personally conducted additional testing throughout the night. He determined that my grandmother was extremely high risk and absolutely not a candidate for open heart surgery. This alone saved her life, because had we followed the original recommendation, she likely would not have survived. Dr. Darbinyan then went above and beyond by coordinating with Dr. Ray Matthews and the specialized team at USC Keck Hospital in Downtown Los Angeles. He arranged her transfer to a center equipped to perform advanced procedures for patients considered too high risk for traditional surgery. That team successfully treated her and saved her life. Dr. Sevak Darbinyan did not just review a case. He listened. He acted. He advocated. He treated my grandmother as if she were his own family. His expertise, judgment, and humanity changed the course of our lives forever. We are endlessly grateful to Dr. Darbinyan and his entire team. If you are looking for a cardiologist who truly cares, who will fight for you, and who has the knowledge and courage to make the right call when it matters most, look no further. He is a lifesaver in every sense of the word.
