Patient
I had planned to attend my appointment in person but had to switch to a video visit. When I requested the change, the staff informed me that I would need to either make the payment in person or provide my credit card information over the phone to process the coinsurance. I found this request concerning, as sharing credit card information over the phone is not secure. Most providers I work with offer secure online portals or payment links--methods far more appropriate given today's digital standards and privacy expectations. I was requested to make payment in person or share the credit card details over the phone. Furthermore, although my appointment was scheduled for 4:00 PM, I was informed that the doctor could call at any time within a 90-minute window due to her own policy. In this case, I received the call at 5:19 PM. While I understand that emergencies may arise, consistently applying this extended window only to video visits--while in-person appointments are kept punctual--feels inequitable and dismissive of patients' time. Similarly, during a previous 8:00 AM appointment, the doctor arrived 40 minutes late and explained that she had been attending to an emergency patient. However, her appearance at the time did not align with that explanation, which left me feeling confused and concerned. As a working professional with a full schedule, I find this lack of consistency and reliability problematic. During the video visit, Dr. Kazemi addressed the concerns I had previously shared with the staff. I appreciated the opportunity to clarify my perspective and hoped that my feedback would be taken constructively to support improvements in communication, time management, and patient experience. However, Dr. Kazemi suggested that I find another cardiologist who better aligns with my expectations. I believe that respectful dialogue and continuous improvement are essential in healthcare. I hope this message will be received in that spirit and encourage thoughtful reflection on how the patient experience can be better supported going forward.
