Dr Jason Van Tassel, a San Diego native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego State University with Honors in 1992. He then graduated with Honors from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1997 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After completing his residency in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Dr Van Tassel joined the University of California Irvine's faculty and completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Board-certified in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery, he specializes in facial enhancement, rejuvenation, and sleep apnea treatments, including minimally invasive procedures like Hyoid Suspension.

Eight days after my sudden hearing loss (SSNHL), Dr. Jason Van Tassel took me in immediately and began aggressive steroid treatment with both prednisone and a series of five injections. Thanks to his quick action, skill, and dedication, my hearing has gone from 0% to about 70% in just three weeks -- and I'm well on my way to a full recovery. For patients that get this suddenly, 90% of the time there is no known cause and recovery is 50-50. Some may not recover but in order to give yourself the best shot aggressive steroid treatment started within the first 2 weeks is critical. Dr. Van Tassel was all over this and tried everything for me- more than willing to go the extra mile for his patients.
