Patient
I was referred to Dr. Salami by my general doctor and visited both of his offices (Hillcrest and Coronado) twice each over two months. Overall, my experience was mixed. The Hillcrest staff were more professional and respectful of my time. Appointments there started closer to the scheduled time, and the environment felt more organized. The Coronado office, however, was frustrating. I waited nearly an hour past my appointment time for the nurse. Meanwhile, their reminders and phone messages constantly stress the importance of being on time or arriving early. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the nurse asked if I wanted to reschedule. I think people generally choose times and work the rest of their day around appointment? I also had issues with billing and communication. I understand my insurance well and know I owe copayments. I asked the front desk multiple times if I needed to make a copayment, and they insisted I didn't...only to receive a bill months later requesting payment. This was on the same day the nurse was very late. My visit with Dr. Salami wasn't great either. One of my symptoms was dismissed in a way that made me feel delusional. I later told my general doctor, and he was surprised it was brushed off. My follow-up (I was seen before my appointment time, a pro I guess) was squeezed into a testing appointment, and everything felt rushed. The only solution I was given was to drink more water and the results were not forwarded to my general doctor. When I went to my general doctor, he said he hadn't seen or heard from their office. This was 1-2 months after my last appointment with Dr. Salami If you decide to go here, I'd suggest calling ahead to confirm they're running on time, and opt for the Hillcrest office where the staff seemed more together.
