While I was on vacation I suffered a severe broken ankle. I was going into shock & my pain was +10 , and fearful of how much more I will have to endure once I had medical treatment. A family member recommended Scripps Mercy in Chula Vista and I am thankful I arrived at the Scripps Mercy, The ER team were amazing, Dr. Jessie and his TEAM of nurses, front office team, radiology team, and all those that work behind the scenes, are extremely comforting, caring and friendly. Then I met with the Podiatric Surgeon, Dr. Howie Que in the ER room, his demeanor, understanding and diagnosis, dropped my anxiety level, leaving me with a sense of confidence, his bedside manner was impressive, he eased my tension, and was left with a certainty that all would be back to normality. The following day, he performed surgery on my ankle, due to the severity the procedure took about 3.5 hours. He reported that as complicated as this procedure was everything lined up correctly and should have a full recovery . The nurses on the 1st floor took care of my needs & were very attentive. I have been in Dr. Howie's care for several months. We all know that this type of injury will take a year, I am doing extremely well, I'm walking; which I am grateful. Dr. Howie is amazing, he is caring, friendly, confident, "he loves what he does " . I am very appreciative and I'm thankful for his experience & his skills, I was at the right place and the right time to have been seen & taken care of by Dr. Howie. There is no one else I would recommend but Dr. Howie to take care of your Podiatry medical needs. Dora Luz Arroyo, patient.

I was there to get an MRI for my wrist. The parking was easy and plentiful. The entry was well lit and accessible. The information desk was helpful in directing me to radiology. The waiting room was pleasant and had good show on the TV. The receptionist was friendly and fun to chat with. The timing for the appointment was spot on. The MRI trailer was pleasant and the staff was very nice too.

Honestly amazing, all the of staff, nurses, doctors.. everyone just is tops.. I had internal bleeding and had to get off a cruise ship down in Mexico, 2 hours after leave the Mexican hospital everyone in the ER was in top of their game, if they hadn't been I would have died.. Dr Chac saved my life and managed to stop the bleeding.. they have been super careful and making sure im safe to return home to las vegas. Their nurses on the 3rd floor are super kind and so funny!! Also their hospital food? It is hands down some of the best I've ever had.. yes they have to make it bland to fit everyone's food restrictions but the Cafe staff sent me all the seasoning without even asking for it and it was just like if I'd ordered thru Uber eats at a 5 star restaurant.. I will forever be eternally greatful to Scripps for saving my life and making this whole thing as easy as could be! You guys are rock stars

On December 5 2025 , my 90-year-old father was brought to the Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista ER after a fall, and this was one of the worst hospital experiences I've had. My brother, who initially brought him, was not feeling well and left right after updating me. Even though we explained this clearly, an aggressive security guard immediately tried to throw me out, called another guard, and they were getting ready to physically remove me while my elderly, confused father was somewhere in the hospital having X-rays done. I was calm, just trying to make sure my father had a familiar face when he came back, but security refused to listen. The nurses were rough, cold, and showed no compassion; they did not even clean the blood from my father's face after his fall--I had to do it myself. The only professional and kind person was the ER doctor, who de-escalated the situation when my father returned. The overall environment felt hostile and unsafe for an elderly patient and his family. The ER is also poorly signed and hard to find, especially compared with other Scripps locations like La Jolla and Hillcrest, which feel like completely different hospitals in terms of care and organization. I will never go back to this ER and do not recommend it to anyone, particularly if you are bringing in an elderly or vulnerable loved one.

I had scheduled surgery here to remove my gallbladder laproscopically. The entire team was very kind and patient with me as this was my first big surgery. From registration to pre-op, my surgical team, and post-op, I was very well taken care of. Thanks to everyone for making sure my blankets were warm and for allowing me my plushie for comfort. Extra shout-out to Ryan who talked to me about what music to play when I got into surgery. Entering in to Hozier was very comforting for me.
