About Dr. Akash Makkar, MD, FHRS
Akash Makkar, MD, is the Director of Arizona Heart Arrhythmia Associates, with locations in Phoenix, Avondale, Tempe, Chandler, Sun City, Dewey, and Prescott Valley, Arizona. He is board certified in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He completed his electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, one of the top electrophysiology programs in the country. Prior to that, Dr. Makkar was on faculty at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. Dr. Makkar underwent his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Louisville, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow for the year 2009-2010. Dr. Makkar earned his medical degree from Kanpur University, India.

It was very busy, with a number of individuals mentioning that their appointments were about the same time as mine. Saw doctor, he was familiar with my issues... obviously had read my chart... and set me up for procedure. Assistant in the room was extremely helpful after doctor left

After experiencing AFIB, ending up in the hospital and getting a Cardiologist that wouldn't listen to me regarding the excruciating pain I was in from him prescribing Eliquis I finally found Dr. Makkar. Dr Makkar and staff are amazing and got me to better health. Dr Makkar inserted a Merlin Loop this fall which caught another AFIB episode and we decided together to have an Ablation. Surgery went well and I'm home recovering and doing great.
