Patient
On December 5th at 2:45 I had a follow-up from test done for blood clot in my leg. When I was called back to the office there were two women one asking questions for my chart and the other to take my blood pressure. I asked the lady if she could take the blood pressure from the lower part of my right arm she said yes so I stuck my arm out and the sleeve of my shirt would not go up far enough for her to access the band in my arm. She picked my arm up with her hand and stretched it out and roughly padding the inside of the bend of my elbow, saying this is where I need to get to, roughly pushing the sleeve up as far as she could on my arm,I looked at her and the more she pulled on my arm I realized how rough she was being and I said stop that's hurting me. I then proceeded to take my shirt off she never asked me if I needed assistance or if she could help in any way I struggle to get my shirt off and she looked at me and said forget it if that hurt you I'm not taking your blood pressure! I was in total surprise of her attitude and her if you will bedside manner was totally unacceptable. She never took my blood pressure and she left the room in a huff. When Dr Smith nurse practitioner came in to talk to me about the test results at the end of her discussion, I shared with her what had happened and told her I was doing apology. She looked at me and said well normally she's pretty sweet girl and I told her I'm sorry if she's having a bad morning but look I'm 70 years old and that's just unacceptable for me to pay money to come in here to have her hurt me like that. The whole point to this is it wasn't hurting me because she was pulling my sleeve up my arm it was hurting me because I had broken both my shoulders and my range was poorly functioning due to my rotary cuffs being seized. The point is she needs to be educated that just because someone needs a blood pressure check that that might not be the only problem that they have! Still no apology has come and I know nothing will come out of this so I don't know why you send these asking people for their experiences. Dr Smith was excellent and I appreciate everything he did for me and I would refer him to anyone that I come across that needs his assistance but the woman in his office needs to be talked to!
