I'm very grateful that the people at Bartlett are here in Juneau to provide top-notch modern healthcare in a remote area like Southeast Alaska. I had a total hip replacement done and every individual that I dealt with showed caring and professionalism on a level I really didn't expect. I don't mean I expected negative outcomes, I mean they really are a top-notch team of caregivers. I have encountered the opposite so I know the difference. Dr. Brown and his surgical team, the doctors, nurses, and techs that work in med surgery, the anesthesiologists, the physical therapists, the CNAs, scheduling and intake, they all worked together seamlessly to get my surgery done, and it's something that I've needed for years. I waited to get the hip replacement surgery because I did not have access to an outfit like Bartlett in the last place that I lived in Alaska. I was able to get all my care here without flying back and forth to Seattle, which is a godsend. If you feel any hesitation about going to Bartlett and getting a medical procedure that you need, you need not feel that way, they will take good care of you. Did I mention the food was great as well??? Hats off to the staff in the kitchen, good food really matters when you don't feel well. Giving me back my mobility is no small feat, I will always be grateful to the medical professionals at Bartlett.

Well Husband had to come to Barlett for pneumonia. Emergency was quick had him up in a room fast. I thought we'd be er all night but nope. The 3rd floor Doctors, Nurses CNAs and Housekeepers was all amazing caring individuals with hearts of gold. The food has improved 1000% since last time Husband was in here. The only little complaint is the towels need to be bigger. Overall it's been a positive stay. Thank you Bartlett for caring for our community.

All of the staff were awesome except for the dr I had Abigail Mary king, ANP. She seemed sincere when listening and I felt like I was being heard. I went in for dizziness and a bad rash. She ordered blood test and a CT and finally determined I had some kind of inner ear issue causing the dizziness. She gave me some meds to help me sleep and an antihistamine for the rash. She also gave some instructions with some exercises that might help the inner ear issues. Also told me to get an itch cream for the rash. Unfortunately neither one helped. Told me to follow up with a local doctor if it didn't get better. I explained to her that that I don't live here and don't have a local dr but that did not seem to make a difference. The rash I had she could see was driving me nuts it itched so bad and was spreading while I was there. I understand if nothing can be done for the dizziness but I asked and was denied something stronger to help with the rash. No reason to go to the dr if she is not going to help.

We had a great experience here. The nurses, CNA's, and doctors were all friendly and professional. The doctor even took the time to show us x-rays and explain what was happening. Being from out of town, we were not familiar with the area, and the nurses made sure we were taken care of with food and lodging. They helped make a bad situation a little better.

Updated 2025.06.25 ER is good to have available when needed. Upon entering the hospital emergency department, we passed by their 24 hour cafeteria which requires a card key access. Breakfast is 0730-0900, lunch is 1100-1400, dinner is 1700-1800 for their hot food station service. We tasted their chicken curry, it was mildly spicy, the chicken was moist, not overcooked nor dry. It was very pleasant food as is their atmosphere. Updated 2022 Bartlett Regional Hospital is really excellent for what it does offer in services with it's small budget. I wish it would a bigger budget to be able to offer more instead of sending patients off for services it cannot offer. What they are able to offer are a team of professional, hard working, top notch doctors, RN's, CNA's and support staff to keep this place going. Sometimes, the staff are stretched thin, services take longer. The pain management agenda is part regimen, and part guessing for the patient. Pain relief is dispensed, some time passes to the medication to take affect, then a body adjustments. That's where unknown pain could reared its ugly side. Now I'm in a higher level pain, but now I must wait for the next time for the next dose of pain relief. I've gone through a few nights holding on for hours in pain in anticipation of the pain relief dose, it's very a stressful experience. However, the dining facility continues to overcooked their sources of protein, i.e. chicken, eggs, beef, fish that I would tend to leave that on the plate, preferring to have my protein moist, tender, not hard, dry. The kitchen really needs to do a better quality for taste at smaller portions, not overcooking protein. Food is too bland without a little salt and pepper. It's such institutional food, it's pathetic.
