He has more than 30 years of experience, and his specialties include aortic and mitral valve repair, coronary artery bypass, atrial fibrillation surgery, lung surgery and video-assisted thoracoscopy. Dr. Ferguson earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, where he served as chief resident. He completed his fellowship in thoracic surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Ferguson is board certified in thoracic and general surgery.

Dr Ferguson and his team stepped into, what was for my family and me, a life or death event. From start to finish he was completely professional, yet plugged in to us personally. He took the time to explain every detail and answer every question. This meant the world to my wife and sons. 5 stars seems to me an insult to this gifted surgeon. And there is no way to measure the peace and confidence Dr Ferguson gave us with his sincere connection. We felt it on a personal level.
I have nothing but great things to say about Dr Ferguson. He performed my triple bypass surgery and I came through with flying colors. There's a reason why he has so many good reviews. He's very skilled in what he does and I'm glad he was the one who did my surgery.
I met Dr Ferguson on a Friday when I was there at Baptist Brookwood for a cardiac Cath. He told me he could get me in the following week and I had surgery that Thursday for a mitral valve replacement. Everything went well. Dr Ferguson had me set up for 2 weeks of In-House therapy and 6 weeks of therapy in my hometown which I'm still participating in.
